Who we are

Max Bingley

Co-Owner/Lead Trainer

My passion for dogs began at a young age. As a child, I formed strong bonds with neighborhood dogs, eventually earning the title of “Neighborhood Walker.” In my teens, I joined my sister—a professional dog groomer—at work, where she taught me the fundamentals of handling, bathing, and basic grooming. She worked out of a veterinary office, and when I turned 18, I became a kennel technician and veterinary assistant there. During my time in the clinic, I assisted in surgeries and dental procedures, administered vaccines, helped with exams, and cared for the dogs staying with us.

While I loved working in veterinary medicine, I wanted to explore other fields. After brief experiences in customer service and sales, I returned to working with animals at my local humane society. This role ignited my interest in canine behavior, as I witnessed dogs being surrendered for issues like jumping, mouthing, reactivity, and even aggression. After a year, I realized the shelter world wasn’t the right fit for me, so I began an apprenticeship under a dog behaviorist. For two years, I worked closely with her, managing her kennel and training severely reactive and aggressive dogs.

When my mentor decided to return to school, she introduced me to another trainer—the director of training at a nonprofit specializing in service dogs for veterans and civilians with disabilities. I transitioned into a role managing volunteer puppy raisers and became an apprentice service dog trainer, where I learned how to raise, train, and place highly skilled service dogs. During this time, I also co-ran several prison pup programs within California state prisons.

In 2020, when my mentor stepped down, I took on the role of program director, lead trainer, and kennel manager at the nonprofit. I oversaw all prison programs, managed the dogs in our facility, and trained and placed service dogs. It was during this time that I met Rachelle. Together, we ran the programs and training department.

While working in public with service dogs, we were frequently approached by people seeking help with their pet dogs—particularly reactive dogs who had missed critical socialization due to COVID. At the time, we weren’t offering pet dog training, but we saw the growing need. After careful consideration, Rachelle and I decided to leave the nonprofit world and establish Bingley & Co. We wanted to help dog owners not only keep their dogs but truly enjoy life with them.

Over the next few years, Bingley & Co. grew, and our community—our BC pack—expanded. Family and our passion for dog training eventually brought us to Portland, Oregon, where we’re excited to continue growing and helping more dogs and their humans in the Pacific Northwest!

I am a professional member with the IACP (International Association of Canine Professionals) as well as an AKC evaluator. I have completed two, 2-year apprenticeship programs and continue my learning doing online courses. The learning never stops!

A little about me, my experiences, and how I got into dog training. It all started in college; I was on track for nursing school when I got in to puppy raising for Guide Dogs For The Blind. Halfway through my first puppy I quickly decided THIS is what I wanted to do. I fell in love with it. I finished college with a degree in Kinesiology while raising a total of 3 GDB puppies. After this I became a certified dog trainer through PetSmart and ran two different store locations. After this I found myself back in the non-profit world where I met Max. We provided assistance dogs for veterans and civilians, I co-managed their prison programs, and managed their puppy raising volunteer program. After the assistance dog world, I wanted to grow my skills as a dog trainer to work with behavior modification cases. I completed an apprenticeship and have been working with reactive dogs the last 3 years alongside Max.

Bingley and Co. was born early 2022 when Max and I saw the amount of help pet owners needed after the pandemic and the affects this had on their dogs. Shelters and rescues were filling up and could not catch up. We were being asked daily for pet dog training. We had an amazing start and amazing few years serving Southern California, meeting incredible people, their families, and pets. We loved every second of it. Dog training, and our family have now brought us to the PNW, it has been our dream to live in Oregon and to be able to continue our business here is such a blessing. We cannot wait to offer our services and create new connections here in the PNW!

I am also a professional member with the IACP (International association of  Canine Professionals) as well as an AKC evaluator. I have completed Petsmarts accreditation program and have completed two apprenticeships and continue my learning doing online courses.
